About Dee
I’m Dee, founder of Dee Codes Grief—a life, grief, and abundance coach who turns hard-won lessons into practical tools for people whose losses don’t fit society’s neat boxes.
My first brush with disenfranchised grief came when I chose estrangement from my mother to protect my own growth as a single mom. Years later, the circle closed when my own son needed distance. That lived contrast, being both the child who leaves and the parent who’s left, taught me that every side of estrangement carries real pain and real responsibility.
Since then I’ve walked (sometimes crawled) through separating from a violent partner, divorce, leaving a high-control religious group, losing a career, and starting over more times than I can count. Each restart sharpened the questions I've asked clients: Where does ego keep you stuck? What truth are you avoiding? What new story could you write if you faced it head-on?

My approach in a nutshell
Blunt but warm. Kind yet uncompromising. I’ll hold your hand when traditional grief hits, and then hold up the mirror when disenfranchised grief demands radical honesty. Expect ego-dismantling exercises, compassionate accountability, and a steady reminder that evolving beliefs is a super-power, not a flaw.
Beyond the page
When I’m not writing or coaching, you’ll find me dissecting college-basketball plays, scheming up a food-truck dream with my husband, or hunting for the perfect coffee spots and park backdrops for photo-ops during our travels to Comic-Cons and reptile shows.
